Featured Project:
Baltimore Sun Building Demolition
Baltimore, Maryland
ISI Demolition performed the full building raze of the former Baltimore Sun printing plant and offices at Baltimore Peninsula, a roughly 450,000-square-foot structure with some of the largest steel columns our crews had ever encountered. Working tight against an active sidewalk, a hotel, nearby offices, and an adjacent parking garage under construction, our team managed working-hour restrictions, dust suppression, and material segregation to keep the site organized and the surrounding community undisturbed, while also donating and repurposing 80% of the building’s leftover furniture, fixtures, and equipment.

Full Building Takedowns, On Schedule
Since 1990, ISI Demolition has had the team, process, and equipment to get a job done on time and on budget. We know how our work affects everything that follows: any delay on our end stalls the rest of the construction schedule behind us.
- We’ve invested in our fleet of heavy equipment, so there’s no waiting on a rental machine tied up on someone else’s job.
- We run daily and weekly quality control meetings on every project, so nothing about the plan or the site conditions gets discovered halfway through.
- Our staff handles daily demolition work, giving us full control of the schedule.
- We get involved with general contractors and developers as early as possible, handling pre-demolition surveys and permitting support before equipment ever moves.
Since expanding to Florida in 2014, that same standard applies in the Southeast. Whether the project is in Maryland or Florida, the same crews, supervision, and equipment standards hold.
Every Plan Backed by In-House Structural Engineering
Every building razing project is reviewed by ISI Demolition’s in-house structural engineer before work begins. Sequencing, shoring needs, and site-specific risks get planned for upfront so that demolition moves smoothly once we start.
When buildings are unpredictable, having this skillset on our team means load paths get confirmed and plans get adjusted before they become a problem in the field, not after.

Our Team Can Handle Any Conditions
Every site comes with its own problems to solve, and you need to know they’ll get solved without you finding out the hard way. That starts with the team. ISI Demolition’s crews have seen enough conditions to know what to expect, backed by the fleet to handle what they find. Here’s how that plays out on the ground.
When the site sits close to active neighbors
For buildings in dense, urban, or occupied areas, we plan sequencing and containment carefully to keep the surrounding environment safe and operational, minimizing disruption to neighboring properties and pedestrians.
When utilities and permitting stand in the way
Before a single wall comes down, our team coordinates utility disconnection with providers and supports permitting and environmental compliance, so nothing unexpected halts progress mid-project.
When precision matters as much as power
Our fleet of remote-controlled demolition robots delivers the force of much larger machines in spaces where precision and control are critical, along with high-reach excavators for multi-story takedowns.
When the site needs to be truly clean
Debris is sorted and managed for recycling and disposal. We prioritize on-site material recovery and hauling efficiency to reduce environmental impact and control costs, leaving a clean slate for the next phase of construction.
Featured Project:
Bernie McCabe Courthouse Demolition
St. Petersburg, Florida
ISI Demolition was hired for a full-range of demolition services on the 80,625 square foot Sebring Building. Work included bringing down a five-story building and a one-story building to make way for the Bernie McCabe Courthouse project in St. Petersburg Florida. In just one month, ISI Demolition brought down both buildings and removed all pile caps, piles, spread footings, and grade beams without incident.

The Most Common Questions GCs Have About Building Razing
How does building razing affect my project schedule?
Razing typically runs a few days to a few weeks depending on the structure’s size and complexity, once planning and permitting are complete. Because we own our equipment and run our own crews, we control that timeline instead of waiting on rentals or subs, so it’s easier to hold to the schedule you’ve already committed to your client.
Who handles permitting and utility disconnection, us or you?
We do. Our team coordinates permitting, environmental compliance, and utility shutoff with providers before equipment ever moves, so it’s off your plate.
What if the structure has unexpected conditions once we’re into it?
Every project is reviewed by our in-house structural engineer before work begins, so load paths, shoring needs, and site-specific risks are planned for upfront. If something changes once we’re in it, we have the in-house team to adjust without waiting on a third party.
Can ISI Demolition work around an active site or tight urban footprint?
Yes. We regularly work tight against occupied buildings, active sidewalks, and adjacent construction, planning sequencing and containment to keep neighbors and other trades operating safely.
What’s left on-site when demolition is finished?
Debris is sorted and managed for recycling and disposal, with a focus on material recovery and hauling efficiency, so you’re handed a clean site ready for the next phase.
Does ISI Demolition work in Maryland and Florida, or just one region?
Both, with the same crews, supervision, and equipment standards in each. We’re headquartered in Maryland with a regional office in Florida, serving the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast.
