Demolition crews preparing for renovations at Ravens Stadium

The M&T Bank Stadium, home to the Baltimore Ravens, is currently undergoing significant renovations aimed at enhancing the fan experience and modernizing the facility. Spanning 1.6 million square feet, this extensive project involves work across multiple levels of the stadium. According to WBAL and the Baltimore Ravens, these renovations include improvements to seating, concourses, and various fan amenities. Overseen by the Maryland Stadium Authority, the project began in late 2023 and is progressing steadily, with many of the updates completed before the 2024-2025 football season. This transformation aims to ensure that the stadium remains a premier destination for sports and entertainment events in Baltimore.

The general contractor on the project, Gilbane, entrusted ISI Demolition with the critical initial demolition work. Our expertise and efficiency allowed for a smooth transition from demolition to construction, ensuring the project stayed on track.

Precision Saw Cutting

Precision saw cutting was a crucial aspect of ISI Demolition’s role in the M&T Bank Stadium renovations. This technique involves using specialized saws to cut through concrete, asphalt, and other materials with exacting accuracy. Our team employed advanced walk-behind flat saws and electric floor machines to perform these tasks efficiently and safely.

By using saw cutting, we were able to create clean, precise cuts that minimized structural damage and facilitated the installation of new features. This method ensured that the demolition phase was completed smoothly, keeping the overall project on schedule.

I stopped counting how many times we changed limits of the sawcutting. Your team demonstrated high patience for the continuous changes we encountered but always followed through on planned schedule. You cleared the path for us to get us through these subsurface challenges, and did so safely and efficiently. Not to mention the huge effort of labor we had to get us ready for game days.

Utilizing Robotic Demolition in Stadium Renovations

Robotic demolition is a vital tool in stadium renovations, allowing work to be done efficiently in tight spaces that are often difficult to access with traditional equipment. These machines provide the power needed to break through concrete and other tough materials while ensuring precision and safety. In the M&T Bank Stadium project, our use of robotic demolition equipment, as shown in the photo, enabled us to navigate confined areas and execute the demolition with minimal disruption to the ongoing construction activities. This approach not only enhances efficiency but also ensures that the project remains on schedule and within budget.

Supporting LEED Gold Certification

The M&T Bank Stadium renovation project is on track to achieve LEED Gold Certification, highlighting our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. ISI Demolition played a key role in this achievement by meticulously planning and executing the demolition phase with a focus on recycling and waste diversion. As of July 11, 2024, we successfully recycled 1,250 tons of materials, including wood, metal, drywall, cardboard, concrete, and plastic, achieving a 95% diversion rate. Our efforts ensured that the project not only progressed efficiently but also met stringent environmental standards, contributing to its LEED Gold Certification.
