News about the implosion traveled fast after Penn State made their official announcement inviting spectators to watch on January 4, 2025 at 8am. Sports Illustrated posted an article about the project, including the rapid pace of construction:

“The press box project begins what Penn State is calling a “large-scale demolition” of Beaver Stadium’s upper West side. Crews will be on-site 24/7 for the next six weeks to prepare the site for construction that will take place ahead of the 2025 season.” [source]

 

Ben Jones, a reporter covering Penn State athletics, was one of the first show demolition crews moving into the site.
